- Officials and employees take part in kimchi-making on Nov. 6, 2009

On November 6, 2009, officials and employees of the Korea Housing Finance Corporation (KHFC, CEO Joo-jae Lim) participated in a kimchi-making event as part of a volunteer campaign with Child Fund Korea to help people in need.

Together with volunteer members from Child Fund Korea, KHFC Bogeumjari Volunteer Group members visited Hansarang, a welfare facility for people with serious orthopedic impairments in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do. They joined facility members in cutting and preparing kimchi ingredients and stuffing cabbages to make kimchi in preparation of the coldest three or four months of winter.

The lovingly prepared kimchi will be packaged and delivered to elderly people living alone, teenagers who are heads of their households, and other socially disadvantaged people.

Before the start of the day’s volunteer activities, KHFC donated 10 million won, raised by KHFC employees through donations from their salaries, to Child Fund Korea to cover the expenses for kimchi-making.

As the year draws to a close, KHFC will also help deliver charcoal briquettes and perform other volunteer services to help marginalized people cope with the cold winter season.
