□ On February 1, the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development and KHFC announced the interest rate for government-guaranteed student loans for the first semester of 2006 at 7.05%.

This is a 50 basis-point increase from the previous semester's 7.0%, but it is minimal given that the base rate of five-year government bonds increased 350 basis points over the same period.
