KRW451.2 Billion Extended in Bogeumjari Loan in December
The sales of bogeumjari loans (long-term, fixed-rate mortgage loans) exceeded KRW450 billion and recorded an all-year-high. According to KHFC, it extended KRW451.2 billion in bogeumjari loans in December 2007. This represented growth of 38.1% compared to KRW326.7 billion in November.
As a result, a total of KRW3.5922 trillion was extended in bogeumjari loans in 2007, which represents growth of more than 2.5 times the total of KRW1.3876 trillion in 2006.
The strong performance in December may be attributable to the growing interest of customers as market rates are on the rise. In addition, it was announced that the interest rates of bogeumjari loans would be raised beginning January 8 and, thus, there was demand to get in applications for taking out loans at the pre-increase rate
