The Korea Housing Finance Corporation (KHFC, CEO Seo Jong-dae) announced on October 25 that the award ceremony for the winners of the Housing Finance Academic Paper Contest for University and Graduate School Students was held at the KHFC headquarters in downtown Seoul.

First prize went to Joo Seong-kyu and Park Hee-jun at the graduate school of Hanyang University, who wrote a paper titled “Household Loan Repayment Method Selection Model and Its Relationship with Income Inequality.” They pointed out that installment repayment of principal and interest is a more effective way of reducing income inequality than lumpsum repayment of principal and interest. The winner of the second prize was Cho Mi-jeong at the graduate school of Gachon University, who presented “Housing Development Program through Project Financing.” Third prize went to Lee Han-soo, Seo Ji-hyun, and Choi Eun-gang at KDI School of Public Policy and Management for “A Study on Stabilizing the Housing Finance Market” and Cho Yong-hoon at Hanyang University for “A Strategy for Advancing the KHFC Builder Guarantee Process.”

KHFC awarded KRW 5 million to the first prize winner, KRW 3 million to the second prize winner, and KRW 1 million to each of the third prize winners. The contest was organized to identify creative ideas on housing finance programs from university and graduate school students. The contest was open from April 23 through August 31 under the theme “A Proposition or Analysis that Contributes to the Development of Housing Finance.”
