The Korea Housing Finance Corporation (KHFC) announced on April 23 that it appointed the Honorary JTYK Ambassadors 2013 for each region to raise the social perception of the JTYK program and broaden its base.

Through its 19 branches, KHFC selected 100 honorary JTYK ambassadors, which include JTYK borrowers, chapter heads of the Korean Senior Citizens Association and the director of Senior Citizen Welfare Corporation. For the next one year, the selected honorary ambassadors will serve as a communication channel between KHFC and senior citizens to revitalize the JTYK program and participate in various JTYK promotional activities targeting the elderly in certain regions.

“Many senior citizens are still unaware of or misunderstand about the JYTK program. Vivid experiences and information delivered by the JTYK honorary ambassadors will help encourage more senior citizens to use the JTYK loans,” said an official at KHFC.

JooTaekYeonKeum (JTYK) is a program by which senior homeowners can receive monthly pension benefits for the rest of their lives by putting up their houses as collateral. Both the homeowner and his/her spouse must own no more than one house and be aged at least 60 to be eligible. The program guarantees security in both housing and living to senior citizens who are homeowners but do not have cash income.
