“Lessees can move to new place before getting back their rental deposits”

- Lessees can now apply for a cheonsei guarantee before the completion of the lease registration order process by obtaining a recommendation from the head of their local governments -

It has become easier to get a cheonsei loan for lessees who have failed to receive a refund on the deposit
after the termination of a lease and are having a problem moving into a new place. They just need to obtain
a recommendation from the head of their local governments and apply for a lease registration.

The Korea Housing Finance Corporation (HF, CEO Kim Jae-Chun) announced on the 24th that HF is easing
the application timeline for the special guarantee for registered lessees* from the1st of next month to
“after the submission of an application for a lease registration order,” provided that the applicant has obtained
a recommendation from the head of his local government. HF currently only accepts applications “after the completion
of the lease registration order process.”

* Available to those who have an annual household income of less than 70 million won, the special guarantee program
for registered lessees provides a guarantee on jeonse loans to the lessees who have failed to receive a refund on
their deposits after the termination of their lease contract but wish to move into a new place. HF eased the application
timeline to allow lessees to obtain a jeonse guarantee immediately after applying for a lease registration if the applicant
has obtained a recommendation from the head of the local government*.

* Currently, a recommendation from the heads of local governments is only available from the Seoul Metropolitan
government.

* Hotline for the Jeonse and Monthly Rent Deposit Support Center, Seoul Metropolitan Government (02-2133-1200~08)
→ Screening by the Support Center → Issuance of recommendation (takes up to one week)

“This change incorporates the request from the Jeonse and Monthly Rent Deposit Support Center (Housing Policy Office
of the Seoul Metropolitan Government) and is being implemented as part of the Government 3.0 initiative,
“Providing Customized Services” based on inter-organizational collaboration,” said an HF official.
