HF Signs MOU with Malaysian Mortgage Corporation 


- HF CEO Lee Jung-Hwan presents the case of MBS issuance in Korea at the World Bank Conference 


Korea Housing Finance Corporation (HF, CEO Lee Jung-Hwan) announced on April 2, 2019, that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on exchanges in the area of housing finance with Malaysian national mortgage corporation Cagamas Berhad*. 

 * Established under the Central Bank of Malaysia in 1986, Cagamas Berhad is specialized in purchasing mortgage loans and issuing mortgage-backed securities. 


Under the MOU, both corporations pledged to exchange their know-how on ▲ housing finance policies and ▲ housing market research methodologies and promote cooperation through a variety of channels, including seminars and workshops.


In addition, HF CEO Lee Jung-Hwan joined the 1st annual Internal Secondary Mortgage Market Association (ISMMA)* general assembly and the World Bank Group’s Global Housing Finance Conference held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from April 1-3.    

  * The International Secondary Mortgage Market Association was jointly established by the World Bank and the Malaysian national mortgage corporation Cagamas Berhad in 2018. It has been joined by some 20 state-run mortgage corporations from around the world, including those from Asia, the Americas, and Africa. 


HF CEO Lee joined the housing finance conference as a panelist, introducing the nation’s state-sponsored mortgages, covered bonds, and MBS issuance and sharing his insights on the role of Asian state-run mortgage corporations and related policy suggestions to improve the housing welfare of the public.
