HF Helps Communities Hit by COVID-19


- It donates to self-employed and vulnerable people


Korea Housing Finance Corporation (HF, CEO Lee Jung-Hwan) has donated cash and non-cash items to support local self-employed people hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and vulnerable populations at risk of missing meals due to the suspension of group meals at social welfare centers. 


HF announced on March 4, 2020, that it made an emergency donaton via Busan Community Chest (Chairperson Shin Jeong-Taek) to revitalize the local economy and support vulnerable groups amid the COVID-19 pandemic.


Using KRW 60 million worth of Onnuri gift certificates and local produce shopping coupons purchased via the charity, HF bought meal boxes and food supplies and delivered them to ▲ senior care centers, ▲ single-parent families and child care centers, and ▲ food banks in Busan. It also donated KRW 30 million to cleaning and disinfection efforts at orphanages, child care centers, and other social care centers vulnerable to the coronavirus. In addition, it donated KRW 30 million to social welfare centers across the nation, including Daegu and Gyeongbuk Province, while offering KRW 10 million of coronavirus sanitation kits in partnership with Busan City to families under a self-isolation order. Together, these donations reached KRW 130 million. 

   

HF CEO Lee Jung-Hwan said, “We hope that our donations help community members in need cope with the COVID-19 crisis. We will continue to make a variety of social contribution efforts to boost the local economy and resolve social issues, fulfilling our social responsibility and pursuing shared growth with our local community.”


Along the same lines, last month, HF used its funds allocated for corporate anniversary gifts (KRW 20 million) to purchase child hygiene kits and emergency food supplies for children left behind amid the coronavirus crisis.
