HF Offers Tailored Care Services for Seniors Living Alone

- HF Happy Care Service available in Busan and now Seoul

Korea Housing Finance Corporation (HF, CEO Lee Jung-Hwan) stated on September 3, 2020, that it signed an MOU with the Comprehensive Support Center for the Elderly Living Alone for the HF Happy Care Service program at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center on the 3rd. It also held a launch ceremony the same day, expressing the two institutions’ commitment to the successful implementation of the service program as well as greater senior welfare.

Under the program, HF and the Center will select 1,600 elderly people aged 60 and older in Seoul and Busan and provide them with personalized care services until the end of the year. These services include ▲ “Daily Life Support” to check the health and safety of isolated seniors, ▲ “Housing Care” to improve their derelict housing conditions, ▲ “Connection to Neighbors” to help them stay connected to their community, and ▲ “Life Convenience” to assist them with organizing their homes and going on outings.

For the program, HF will hire 100 Happy Caretakers aged 50 and older who can carry out basic home repair, quarantine and disinfection, smartphone training, and other specialized services. With this unique ‘senior care by seniors’ program, HF will provide a range of services to meet the specific needs of seniors living alone.

To better identify the needs of its local beneficiaries and deliver senior services in a more systematic manner, HF will also work hand-in-hand with older and elderly adult job creation agencies, such as the Southern Campus of Seoul 50 Plus Foundation, Yangcheon Seniors Club in Seoul, and Busan Older and Elderly Adults Job Support Center.

HF CEO Lee Jung-Hwan said, “This year, we are going to more than double the number of senior beneficiaries and Happy Caretaker job openings compared to last year and roll out more senior-oriented personalized services. We will continue our social contribution efforts to close senior welfare loopholes and build a solid social safety network, thereby fulfilling our social responsibility as a public institution.”

To help prevent the further spread of COVID-19 and rigorously comply with the government’s quarantine guidelines, HF reduced the number of participants for the ceremony to the minimal level by only inviting the representatives of the signatories to the MOU and streaming the event live on a virtual conference platform for the 100 HF Happy Caretakers.
