Plan a Trip to HF for Housing Finance Materials

- Digital archiving completed for Housing Finance Credit Guarantee Fund documents produced before HF 

- Digital archive now open to the public for research, printing, and photocopying every Wednesday afternoon

Korea Housing Finance Corporation (HF, CEO Choi Joon-Woo) stated on September 7, 2021 that it has completed the digital archiving of Housing Finance Credit Guarantee Fund-related documents produced between 1987 and 2003 by its predecessor, Housing & Commercial Bank. Before the archiving process, the paper documents went through decontamination, disinfection, and compilation before the final digitization process. The HF Housing Finance Archive* is now open and offers access to its digital collections to the public <See the image below>.

In addition to its main businesses of Home Pension, Bogeumjari loans, and MBS issuance, HF* manages the Housing Finance Credit Guarantee Fund, which was set up 40 years ago ― even before HF’s incorporation. Recognizing the significance of the paper records prepared by its predecessor regarding the Fund and now under its retention because they reveal the trends and developments over the first four decades of the nations’ housing finance guarantee policies, HF decided to convert them into a digital archive for better preservation and easier public access. 

  * At the time of its incorporation in 2004, HF succeeded the mandate of Korea Credit Guarantee Fund on the comprehensive management and operations of the Housing Finance Credit Guarantee Fund and its assets. Since then, HF has been responsible for managing and operating the Fund.

In particular, the digitization process covered internal documents reviewed at the Housing & Commercial Bank in the process of designing and operating housing finance guarantee products and programs as well as research materials on foreign housing finance guarantee products.

The archive comprises the digitized records, some 1,000 housing finance materials, and the Housing Finance History, which offers a quick glimpse of the history of the nation’s housing finance. In addition, it gives the general public access to ▲ audiovisual records, ▲ publications, and ▲ special materials, and printable materials are available for photocopying.

Anyone can plan a visit to the archive by making an online reservation at the offical HF webpage (www.hf.go.kr). The archive is open to the public every Wednesday (except public holidays) from 2pm to 6pm. It is also available on HF’s YouTube channel under ‘Online Archive Visit‘. 

HF CEO Choi commented, “Now that we have restored and converted rare housing finance records into a digital format, researchers, students, and Busan citizens interested in housing finance can have easier access to these important materials. We will continue this digital archiving process for historically valuable housing finance materials, making them readily available to anyone.”
