HF Inks MOU to Promote ESG Management for Greater Housing Stability  

- MOU signing ceremony held on an online metaverse platform due to the ongoing COVID 19 crisis

Korea Housing Finance Corporation (HF, CEO Choi Joon-Woo) announced on September 3, 2021 that HF and Social Value Enhancement Studies (Director Na Seok-Gwon) signed the MOU on Promoting ESG* Management for Greater Housing Stability. The MOU signing ceremony was held via an online metaverse platform in compliance with the social distancing rules amid the COVID-19 crisis <See the image below>. 

 * ESG stands for “environmental, social, and governance”, which are non-financial drivers of corporate performance.

Under the MOU, the two institutions will undertake a range of cooperation measures, such as ▲ establishing a set of standardized evaluation metrics to assess ESG level, ▲ developing indices and models to measure performance in ESG management in the field of housing finance, and ▲ facilitate networks to promote the ESG ecosystem.

HF CEO Choi said, “We will proactively reinforce our ESG management to create the social value of ‘housing stability for the public’. We hope that this MOU will help our two institutions play a leading role in promoting ESG management in the public arena.”

Since it signed the comprehensive MOU with Social Value Enhancement Studies to measure and promote the creation of social value in September 2019, HF has developed its own metrics to measure the social value generated from its housing finance business and has operated related key performance indicators (KPI) for the first time in the public sector, continuously strengthening its ESG management practices.
