HF establishes sisterhood ties with Wahang Village in Geoje

- With the relocation of its head office to Busan scheduled for next year, HF plans active exchanges with the rural village in South Gyeongsang Province

With the relocation of its head office to the major southeastern city of Busan scheduled for 2014, the Korea Housing Finance Corporation (HF, CEO Seo Jong-dae) has established sisterhood ties with a local rural village in South Gyeongsang Province.

On November 15th, HF officials visited the community center of Wahang Village in Siljeon-ri, Hacheong-myeon, Geoje, Gyeongsang Province and established a sisterhood relationship—dubbed “Love for Rural Areas: Company-Village Sisterhood”—with local residents. The two parties agreed to embark on a wide range of exchange activities, including volunteer assistance and group buying of local specialties. [See attached photo]

As a pledge of urban-rural harmony, HF CEO Seo Jong-dae exchanged a sisterhood relationship agreement with Park Yeong-mo, the village head of Siljeon-ri. In his speech of appreciation, CEO Seo said, “We are fully committed to pursuing active exchange and cooperation so the rural villages can become more prosperous and vibrant.”

Following the ceremony, HF officials helped with the harvest of yuzu, Wahang Village’s local specialty; they also created and launched an Internet-based community for selling yuzu and bamboo shoots online.

In August 2008, HF entered into sisterhood ties with Chocheon 2-ri, Eumseong-eup, North Chungcheong Province and has since offered volunteer services there. It has also engaged in a wide variety of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, such as the “Home Improvement for Love,” collaboration with Habitat for Humanity Korea, a number of activities to support single-person elderly households, and the “Blood Donation for Love.”
